
Stephen Page, PhD, MS, MOT, OT/L
Steve Page, OTR/L, PhD, MS, MOT is a movement and neurorehabilitation scientist, knowledge translator, educator, and clinician. His scientific work has produced many "firsts" in neurorehabilitation, including developing and showing efficacy of mental practice, portable myoelectric robotics, modified constraint-induced therapy, functional electrical stimulation, and several assessments used internationally.
Dr. Page has authored over 180 peer-reviewed articles and over 400 published abstracts as well as presenting over 500 national and international presentations and posters, all focused on stroke and movement rehabilitation. This work has been among the most cited in stroke rehabilitation and, in 2017, Dr. Page was recognized as the author with the highest y index in the entire field of occupational therapy. His h-index continues to be among the highest in occupational therapy. He has been involved in over $25 million of grant funding and has received grants for 7 funding organizations including the American Heart Association, the National Institutes of Health, and the Depatment of Defense. Additionally, Dr. Page has edited 12 special issues of journals, including issues of the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, The Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation, and Topics in Stroke Rehabilitation, and is currently a manuscript reviewer for 30 journals. Dr. Page has organized and chaired numerous regional, national, and international neurorehabilitation conferences, including co-chairing the meetings of the American Society of Neurorehabilitation and American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) (each twice), as well as serving on each organization's Board of Directors twice, chairing ACRM's Communications, Membership, and Awards committees, and having conceived and co-implemented the ACRM Fellow designation. Dr. Page also co-conceived and co-implemented ACRM's stroke special interest group, which has now been in existence for over a decade. Dr. Page ia a recipient of over 45 national and international awards, and he has been named a fellow of The American Heart Association, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, American Occupational Therapy Association, and American Alliance for Health Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (now Shape America).
A passionate advocate for real and substantial knowledge translation to clinicians, patients, and their care partners, Dr. Page has instructed over 15,000 clinicians internationally in the art and science of neurorehabilitation, including co-conceiving and co-administering the Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist (CSRS) series; the field's premier stroke certification for physical and occupational therapists. He also lectures internationally both in person and through webinars on behalf of several organizations and teaches stroke survivors and their care partners in stroke support groups about emerging therapies and self management strategies 6-8 times per year across the Ohio valley.
Dr. Page also treats patients with neurological impairments and geriatric patients in Central and Eastern Ohio. His clinical certifications include dry needling, kinesiology taping, and physical agent modalities.
