About the event
After nearly 20 years teaching some of the first stroke continuing education courses, Dr. Steve Page knows a thing or two about the upper extremity! In the second portion of this two-part series, Dr. Page discusses strategies to facilitate and optimize upper extremity movement following a neurological injury. Building on Part 1’s focus on mitigating impairment and readying the upper extremity for practice, this second course focuses on optimizing assessments and goals, the importance of practice, strategies to grade practice and drive learning, and task specific training in a variety of patient presentations. Augmentative strategies to enhance practice attempts (eg, modalities; orthotics) are also discussed. Uniquely, this course uses impairment/functional levels as a framework to present interventions and goals that might be applied to particular patients. Note: This is the second course in a two-part series focusing on management and restoration of the paretic upper extremity.
